Jio Will Offer Free Hotstar+Disney VIP Annual Subscription For 38 Crore Users

Though the telco had provided HotStar Premium subscriptions in the past as well, however, this will be the first time that Jio customers will be able to get the annual Disney+ Hotstart VIP subscription for a price of Rs 399 a year.

The subscription will enable users to access Disney+ content library, including shows, movies, and kids content alongside content exclusive to HotStar including cricket shows, Premium League, and Formula 1.

However, there’s a catch as the telco has not yet revealed whether the plan will be limited to specific plans, and neither it has provided any details about the launch date. As of now, the teaser banner only mentions “coming soon”.

Jio appears to be taking the same approach as Airtel’s by providing similar subscription benefits to its users.

But the plans havent been mentioned.

Note here, that Jio TV already provides free access to Hotstar OTT, for all Jio Prime users. Even if they recharge for Rs 149, which their minimum pack for 1GB per day for 28 days, the users can access free Hotstar OTT access.

But what about Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription?

Will It Be Rs 399 Plan?

Disney + Hotstar VIP plan costs Rs 399/year, and this will be free for all Jio users, who recharge their mobile with an undisclosed plan.

We are assuming that this can be their Rs 399 monthly pack, for getting Rs 1.5 GB per day for 56 days. If this happens, then all Jio users who are recharging their mobile with Rs 399 and above can free Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription.

But why Rs 399?

Airtel has already launched their Rs 401 pre-paid pack, which provides free access to Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year, along with 28 days validity and 3GB data.

So, to counter this, Jio can make Rs 399 as the minimum pack for availing free Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year.

Or, Jio has also launch a new standalone plan for offering Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year.

Parents who have been worried about having to send their children to school during coronavirus times can breathe a sigh of relief. The State Primary Education Department has decided against reopening schools at least till June 30. However, to ensure that academics does not suffer, Education department has decided to begin academics through home-learning mode from June 15.

Students will be provided textbooks from schools between June 8 and June 13. “The Education department will ready learning material to be shared via television channel DD Girnar. Students have to watch these academic classes and learning has to be ensured by teachers,” said Secretary (Primary and Secondary Education) Vinod Rao.

The audio-video learning material will be prepared by Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan for classes 3-5, GCERT for classes 6-8, and GSHSEB for classes 10-12.

RTE admissions delayed

What is surprising is that academic session for Class 1will commence without students from the Right to Education quota.

This will be the first year since Right to Education was instituted that admission process for kids from economically weaker sections have not commenced yet. This means that about 1.15 lakh poor students will be unbale to start academics with regular students.

Director (Primary Education) M I Joshi said government will hold RTE admission soon. “We will conduct special classes for them once admission gets over.

Most beneficiaries live in cities where Covid-19 is widespread. It is not safe to start RTE admission at this time. So we are planning its schedule.”

The Gujarat Education department has asked schools – primary, secondary and higher secondary- in the state to make provisions for home learning of its students.

It has said that as per the home ministry guidelines schools will remain closed for students till June 30 but they will have to ensure home learning for their respective students.

The government has asked the schools to ensure that home learning happens through books, online education, through mobile and television. It has asked the schools to make necessary provisions to ensure the same.

It has also said that the schools will have to ensure that students who get admitted under RTE also get the benefit of the home learning being provided.

The department in a release said that all private, government, grant-in-aid schools in the state will have to start giving admission to students in Class 1 and 9 from June 8 onwards.

The schools will have to update the data with the state government about new students who have been given admission and they will have to ensure necessary staff for the same.

Relief For Industry As Vijay Rupani Announced Rs 14,000-Crore Gujarat Atmanirbhar Package

The Gujarat government on Thursday announced a relief package of Rs 14,000 crore to help revive the economy battered by the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus, a measure that includes tax rebates to consumers and loan subsidy for business and shop owners.

The package seeks to cover a vast section of people and businesses in Gujarat, one of the most industrialised states which has reported more than 18,500 COVID-19 cases so far.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani gave relief to various sections of the society based on recommendations of a committee headed by former Union finance secretary Hasmukh Adhia.

We had appointed the Hasmukh Adhia committee for economic revival of the state which has submitted an interim report.

"The report was discussed threadbare for the last four days and we have decided to announce ''Gujarat Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) package'' of Rs 14,000 crore," Mr Rupani said.

"We have decided to give relief to people in payment of property tax, electricity bills and vehicle tax," Mr Rupani said.

Commercial establishments, businesses, offices, hotels, restaurants, shops, hospitals will get a rebate of 20 per cent in their annual property tax bills, while residential property owners will get 10 per cent rebate, according to details of the package.

This will give direct benefit to people to the tune of Rs 744 crore.

Electricity consumers using less than 200 units per months will get rebate till first 100 units of consumption, which will cost Rs 200 crore to the exchequer, the Chief Minister said, adding the state will give the amount to power companies.

Various rebates have been announced for commercial and industrial consumers of electricity. While private buses, jeeps, taxis have been given relief of payment of road tax and tax for six months due to the lockdown.

The total relief for property tax, electricity and vehicle tax comes to the tune of Rs 2,300 crore, according to the package.

The government announced subsidy for various industries to the tune of Rs 3,038 crore, while Rs 458-crore relief was given to GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corp) for promotion of industries.

In a bid to revive the housing sector, the government has announced Rs 1,000 crore.

The government said it will give loan interest subsidy of 4 per cent for loans of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for business and shop owners.

Out of the 8 per cent interest rate, 4 per cent will have to be paid by the borrower, while the rest will be paid by the government.

The government allocated Rs 525 crore for loan interest subsidy.

It earmarked Rs 466 crore for labour welfare which includes benefits of Rs 35,000 to each tribal labourer who works in different parts of the state and wants to build a house in his hometown.

Other benefits are of Rs 5,044 crore which include free ration to poor families during the period of lockdown and direct transfer of Rs 1,000 in their accounts.

The government also decided to allocate Rs 100 crore to the health department and another Rs 100 crore to four municipal corporations - Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot - from the Chief Ministers Relief Fund to fight the novel coronavirus.
